The DGNB certification system is used for the objective description and evaluation of the sustainability of buildings. It assesses the quality throughout the entire building lifecycle and is internationally applicable. Due to its flexibility, it can be precisely adapted to different building uses and even country-specific requirements.
The basic system for assessing the sustainability quality of buildings was developed in 2009 jointly by the DGNB and the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS). The DGNB drafted a complete certification system for a wide range of building uses and quarters.
